The Second Queen Bee

So, you remember the Original Queen Bee piece, right? Well this is a smaller, one with less detail. It seems like it would've been fun to draw, but it took me a while to finish it. I was determined to get her done but I hid her for a LONG time (and I'm currently still holding out on you with other pieces, but you'll have to wait and wonder for the time being). I'm glad I pulled through to the end with this one; it turned out really great and from now on, unless I have a deadline, I'm not going to stress myself out about finishing a drawing too quickly. I'm not in the same place artistically as I was 3 years ago and it's okay to take the time to do something well and make it look nice. I don't need to rush everything.

Also, my mother got me a Trikky as a gift (it's like a Munny but a cat instead of a monkey) so at some point when I buy more Sculpey I'll be customizing another vinyl toy, but just like the last one I'm gonna take my time and not rush it.

And I got promoted at BGF. You're looking at the new Managing Editor at BGF Magazine... and YES, I do know what that means.

New Post at BGF

Also, here's a link to the new blog post I wrote for TheBrownGirlFiles. Give it a read.

Happiness is a Warm Gun

Blossom

So, it would be an understatement to say that I put an ass load of work into this Munny. The ones that I've made before this one were not so great (the Stag Girl one was the best up until this point), but this is the first time I've customized one of these things with the intent to craft something beautiful. And I'm going to say it... I'm really fucking proud of it and myself. When I make these I'm always in such a rush for everything to bake and dry and I enter it not really sure what the end result will be or how to make it happen. But this time I new exactly what I wanted and what I needed to do and it felt amazing.
I took my time and made sure everything was as good as it could be, and I worked delicately and gently because I didn't want to mess anything up. I focused on one thing at a time and didn't rush myself; I didn't worry about not knowing what to do because I already knew what I wanted to do. I knew what I wanted. The end product looks exactly how I imagined it would and that's very rare for me. I want to put this kind of hard work into everything that I do from now on.

Well, Lookie Here...

So, I was in the living room a little while ago when I stumble upon this wicker box full of some of my old art stuff (art supplies, unfinished drawings, old note books, etc.). While rummaging around in there I found a few piece that I either never finished or just simply forgot about. Like most of the things I haphazardly lose I found these years later in good to perfect condition. I'm probably going to sell some of them for really cheap, others I'll finish or "salvage for parts" (which means to incorporate old elements of the drawing into a new drawing).

What a luck find, huh? It's not everyday "treasure" falls into my lap like this. Also, I think I'm gonna make another Munny soon. I only have one blank one left and I want to make it really special.

44 Play for 44 Presidents

I'm almost finished with my piece for this show called 44 Plays for 44 Presidents put on by Theatre Pro Rata, and it's been a long hall. I wanted to be in this show because I wanted a challenge; the concept of having to make a piece based on an American president seemed like it could be a difficult change for me; something harder for me to acclimate to. I was right, it forced me to think outside of the box while still maintaining my personal style and approach; it was an exhilarating exercise for me and the piece looks pretty good (I'll post an image of it soon).

A Much Needed Preview

As promised, a small preview of one of the pieces I've been working on. As you can see it's another bee lady (and there will probably be another one at some point). I hope to show this one and any others I make with the large bee lady piece; here's to hope. Right now, I'm working on another piece for a show coming up next month (more info on that soon), and I have plans to make more erotica since I don't do it very often and I totally miss it. Hopefully, by the end of the summer I'll have a serge of new pieces to show before I sell all the others off.

Wish me luck :)

New Essay for BGF

My new essay was just posted to the BGF Blog. You should head over there and check it out. Also the drawing above was done by me, but like most drawings I make on a whim I lost it behind some piece of furniture. I'm rarely that much of a block head, but I'm sure it'll turn up eventually.

I Ain't Dead Yet...

So, the first issue of the BGF magazine came out on Saturday and I'm super excited about it. We were all working on it for so long and it's great to finally see the tangible product. I think I have one or two written piece in there so be on the look out.

The past few weeks, along with the magazine launch, I've been fighting off an allergic reaction that caused me to break out in hives (it was pretty gross). I spent a lot of that time sitting in the house and making new work, getting some shows together for the summer, and just trying to make more things happen. So, despite not posting a lot of new content up on the site I have been making new work and I may even post a little sneak peek of said work later this week. So stay tuned for that.

Also, Here are some writings that I've had published on the BGF blog if you'd like to read them

Summary of Galactic Garden Party

In Bad Company Essay

Summary of Parable of Mutation

About a Dress

Weekend Adventurer

Summary of Movement and Gesture

And I'll have another essay posted to the blog sometime this week.
